Our Cedar Dog and Cat Houses are made from the best quality, longest-lasting cedar - western red cedar. Maintain with wood protectant every few years and it will be the last outdoor house you will ever need to buy - unless you get more cats. We feel that the rich wood look of our Cedar Pet Houses is more attractive than cold plastic and plywood houses. Cedar Pet Houses are a more natural product than plastic pet houses: the cedar is naturally aromatic; and, wood surfaces are more appealing to cats and dogs. Cedar is a great material to build outside pet houses. It is a beautiful, rich wood that holds up well to the elements. Cedar is also a natural deterrent to fleas and ticks and termites. The western red cedar used in these houses is from the northwestern United States and is the most durable of all cedars. Western Red Cedar does not require painting. However, through the normal aging process, the cedar will turn a nice warm gray color. To prolong the rich red color, it is recommended that the wood be sprayed or painted with a wood protectant or natural stain. Only galvanized screws are used so they do not rust and cause those ugly rust stains. Furthermore, your house won't fall apart because the screws won't rust and break. Features include: All houses are built one at a time by experienced craftsmen. Diagonally braced 2 x 2 framing construction makes these pet houses structurally superior to other houses. The floor framing is pressure treated lumber so the unit can be placed directly on the ground if desired. The roof is removable for easy cleaning. This also makes it easy to observe and care for new litters. All houses include a door made of clear heavy-duty vinyl flaps that has been pre-installed for you. It is easily removed if so desired. All houses come as seven pre-assembled panels, pre-drilled with the necessary screws and instructions for easy assembly. Our Cedar Pet Houses offer unique options that are not offered with our Pine Pet Houses or any other pet houses on the market. They are: Internal Thermal-Ply insulation is available as an added option. Porch and Deck Kits that extend the protected lounging area with a cedar porch and roof. Sorry, not available yet with our new Petite Cedar Cat House. Platforms and Platforms with Lofts that raise the Pet House 16" off the ground. Only available with the Small Cedar Pet House.
