Thank you for taking the time to meet our feline family, past and present. When they are not busy
frolicking on the trees, they all enjoy sitting on the trees to watch the lizards,
birds, and butterflies outside. And, they just love to play. While they serve as product
testers, they are all much more--they are our friends and loving companions.
First Generation of Loved Ones
Tchoupitoulas (Tchop for short) is now the Grandma, being the oldest
at 15. She loves to cuddle with us whenever possible. Although she has slimmed down recently, Chop
has been rather chubby at times. Hence she has received various nicknames such as
"Chubby Chop," "Porkchop," and "Cuddle Bear." While the others hide
when visitors arrive, Chop is always there to demo our trees by climbing to the top of a taller tree
step by step.
Poydras, Blacky, Tippy and Tchop have been lost to us
due to illness, but they lived long and happy lives, and they gave us immeasurable love and joy.
They will always be loved and missed. May they rest in peace.
Second Generation of Loved Ones
Demelza and Jake, as part of a newly born litter of eight
kittens, were left at the back of our vet's office in a trash dumpster in the hot Florida
sun. Luckily, at the end of the day, a technician heard some muffled meows and found the
kittens. Demelza and another kitten almost died that day. We adopted Demelza and Jake
several weeks later.
Demelza is part Maine Coon. She has a darling full, furry
face. She loves to chew rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, and she jumps up to pull
down hanging hand towels. She also enjoys knocking over garbage cans. Demelza loves to
claim a hair band, steal it when possible, and walk off with it. We find them in various
places throughout the office all day long. Her favorite toy is a streamer on the end of a
wand and string. She also loves to drink the coffee out of our cups.
Jake is a Tuxedo with beautiful green eyes. He is the biggest
troublemaker we have seen. His face always seems to have a look of surprise on it and
we have found him in the funniest positions, both on and off the trees. When we aren't
paying attention, he uses our backs and shoulders to catapult from to reach the very tops
of the trees. His favorite pastime is chasing and tormenting his sister, Snowball.
Max and Snowball were also adopted as kittens from our vet's
office. Max was discovered carrying Feline AIDS (FIV) antibodies, but our vet, using an experimental
drug therapy for animals, was able to eradicate the antibodies. Max is now a healthy two-year-old
who brings a lot of joy into our lives. When not on one of the trees, his favorite hangout is on the
office Nordic Track, with his back feet on the hip-rest and his front paws on the book and drink holder.
Snowball is our sensitive little girl with a very loving and sweet
disposition. She loves to be talked to like a baby, sung to, and to be rubbed all over.
We try to protect her, but she is picked on by Tchoupitoulas and Jake. Her favorite toys are a mouse
on a string and a little red ball on the end of an antennae.
Third Generation of Loved Ones
Einstein showed up as a little kitty in our neighbors back yard. He also
slept under our big Chinese Fan Palm in our back yard. We had just lost our boy Max so we decided to
take Einstein into our family. We took him in and he fit in right away and took over the house. We
called him Einstein because we joked that he was an awful smart kitty to have chosen our back yard to
call home. He is a beautiful part Bengal cat and he is long, sleek and very athletic. You see the
Bengal spots on his belly in some his pictures. Him and Jake roll around and play for hours - he is
still having trouble getting Demelza to accept him. He is fascinated with the new kitties and is
currently trying to make friends. Einstein is also very loving. When he wants to he jumps in our laps
and lets his body go limp. He would stay in our laps for hours if he could.
Delilah was an outside cat that we
started feeding. Typical for us, we became quite attached to her even though she was outside. She
would disappear during the day but always be back for meals and to spend the night. She became
pregnant and we said we would take her in to have the kitties. Then we were going to spay her and
maybe keep her inside. But she had the kitties outside before we could take her in, and was quickly
pregnant again. Then we acted. We took her in for the last month of her second pregnancy. Her kitties
were born on July 4, 2001 - 6 of them. We found loving homes for 4 of them, and kept 2 of them - Indy
and Sampson.
Indy is Delilah's girl, having been born on July 4, 2001. Hence the
name Indy, short for Independence. We were going to find homes for all six of Delilah's kitties, but
we instantly fell in love with Indy and had to keep her. She has an absolutely adorable way of tilting
her head to one side as she looks at you. Then she has this huge black spot under her chin that she
loves to show off. She is very delicate and prances around the house, raising her little paws way off
the ground as she goes. Indy and her brother, Sampson, love to play with toilet paper.
Sampson is Delilah's boy, also born on July 4, 2001. Like Indy,
we instantly fell in love with him and, of course, just had to keep him. He is named after his
father, Sampson, who together with Delilah, made quite a couple. Sampson has gorgeous orange stripes
and markings, and the biggest ears you have ever seen for a kitty! He eats like a pig too. While Indy
prances, Sampson rumbles across the house. He loves shoes and their shoelaces.
